Invest in Design, Part II: Give Your Audience a Clear Next Step
Share
A clear design helps people understand an offer. Once the layout is readable, decide what the viewer should do next. The same campaign may need a different message at a shop window, an exhibition stand and an indoor display.
Match the message to the moment
Use one concise headline that answers the viewer’s immediate question. At an entrance it may identify the event; beside a product it may explain the offer. Keep supporting details secondary so that the main message remains easy to find.
Use contrast with a purpose
Choose colours that separate text from the background and fit the brand. Bright colours alone do not make a design readable. Review the artwork against its surroundings and consider reflections or illumination at the intended location.
Make the next step specific
An invitation such as “Visit stand 24”, “See the collection” or “Ask for a quote” tells the viewer what to do. A QR code or web address should lead to a page that fulfils that promise. A useful call to action supports the journey; it does not guarantee enquiries or sales.

Keep a consistent campaign across formats
Repeat the key visual and tone while adapting the crop, text size and amount of information to each display. See our retail-window campaign guide for ideas about connecting placements.
For agencies, print shops and resellers, agree sizes, artwork versions and quantities by location. Check the selected template and print-file requirements before approval. Read Part I for typography and layout basics, or send Nordsign your print brief to discuss the required format and finishing.
