Exhibiting in Germany: venues and stand planning

A trade fair in Germany starts with a specific hall, stand plan and audience. A display that works at one event may need a different arrangement at the next. Plan your graphics around the space you have booked and the conversations your team wants to start.

This guide is for exhibitors, sign companies, agencies and resellers preparing a German trade-show appearance. It combines an index of selected exhibition centres and real trade-show examples with a practical brief for choosing printed displays.

Selected exhibition venues and trade shows in Germany

Use the operator links to find the site and hall information for your event. The shows listed are examples associated with each venue; check the organiser's website for the current edition and exhibitor information.

This is a selected venue index. To explore further events and locations, use AUMA's trade fair finder.

Plan around the stand you have booked

Before choosing a backdrop, note the stand's width and depth, the open sides and the main approach from the aisle. Keep a clear place for visitors to stop, with room for a counter, demonstrations or a conversation. Put the main message where it can be read before someone reaches the stand; supporting detail can sit closer to the products.

Confirm the stand height, electrical needs and any approval requirements with the event organiser. An organiser's exhibitor manual is the reference for that booking. For example, the AMB exhibitor manual brings together event, stand and access information. A reusable display still needs to suit your particular stand and event.

Keep visitor arrival and goods delivery separate in your plan. Record the event, hall and stand number, the receiving contact and the authorised delivery or setup window. Use the organiser's delivery instructions for the address and access route. Messe Berlin's access information, for example, distinguishes the exhibition grounds and their different event locations.

Choose displays around the job they need to do

  • A recognisable backdrop: compare printed exhibition walls and display systems for the message behind your team. Check the assembled dimensions against your booked space.
  • A place to welcome visitors: explore exhibition counters, podiums and tables. Decide whether you need a reception point, a product presentation surface or room for a demonstration.
  • A flexible supporting message: use roll-up banners for a specific product, service or campaign. Consider visibility from one or both sides and how the display will travel.
  • A frame for changing campaigns: compare textile frames and fabric lightboxes. Choose the frame and print for the application, and check whether an existing system can be reused with replacement graphics.

For a programme that moves between Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and other German venues, keep the visual identity consistent while adapting the layout to each stand. If you already own a display, send its model, dimensions and photographs before ordering replacement print; frames and graphics must be matched to the actual system.

Prepare your enquiry and artwork

A useful brief lets us discuss the display and print together. Include:

  1. The event, venue, hall and stand number, with your floor plan or a sketch of the space.
  2. The assembled dimensions, open sides and the message visitors should see first.
  3. The product or existing system you want to use, including any model or profile information.
  4. The quantity, artwork status and the date the displays need to be ready for your next step.

Read our print-file requirements and use the template for the selected product and configuration. Keep logos and key text away from areas identified in the product template as seams, edges or cut lines.
